Karaoke isn’t allowed yet in Sangamon County bars, but the Illinois State Fair is planning to feature a karaoke competition in August, where the winner will get to perform before a Grandstand show.
The fair will hold eight regional competitions at county fairs during June and July. The top two finishers at each of those competitions will advance to the finals at the State Fair on Sunday, August 15
th. The winner will perform two songs in the Grandstand that evening, prior to the Toby Keith concert.

Barring a “highly unusual event,” Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker says that he anticipates that the annual State Fairs in Springfield and Du Quoin will be able to proceed later this summer.
The governor says that the size of outdoor spaces at both sites will be key to allowing the fairs to take place, and that the Illinois Department of Public Health is coordinating with the state’s Department of Agriculture to ensure the safety of fairgoers.
